From intimate micro-weddings to bold colours: these are the wedding trends set to define 2026 according to stylists and planners.

Every year we ask stylists, planners and venue owners what they see changing. These are the trends you'll see everywhere in 2026.

Intimate and personal wins

The micro-wedding (up to 50 guests) keeps growing. Couples deliberately choose fewer guests and more experience per guest: a private chef, handwritten thank-you notes and longer speeches.

Colour is back

After years of beige and white, we're seeing bold palettes: deep red with pink, terracotta with lilac, and lots of warm gold. And the wedding dress no longer has to be white.

Sustainable weddings become the norm

  • Seasonal flowers from Dutch growers
  • Second-hand or rented wedding attire
  • Digital invitations with one physical keepsake for the pin board
  • Vegetarian menus as the default, meat as the option

The weekend wedding

More and more couples turn it into a weekend: Friday arrival and welcome dinner, Saturday the wedding, Sunday brunch. Estates and group accommodations are catering to this trend.

Technology in the background

Live streams for family abroad are here to stay, but they're fading into the background. The real trend is "unplugged": phones in a basket during the ceremony, so everyone is truly present.
